In today's article we will talk about the subject of flooring! We currently have a wide range of flooring manufacturers on the market, including variants in which the floor will be made. In the apartment, we can have a floor panel, parquet, and a cork floor. Before we decide on specific solutions, it is worth considering not only the budget available and the planned interior design, but above all the functionality. The choice of the floor is greatly influenced by the purpose of the room, the number of people who will usually use it, the presence of four-legged household members, as well as the planned installation of underfloor heating.
Installation of floors requires not only considerable financial expenditure, but also radical changes and removal of all furniture from the rooms. For this reason, it is better to choose a floor in advance, which will not wear out in a few years of normal use, but we will serve even a few decades. Extremely long durability is characterized by wooden floors - classic parquet, floor boards, wooden panels. Surfaces of this type can last up to 100 years! Floor panels made of wood-based materials are less durable. If we decide on a wooden floor, we will have to choose wood grades of different hardness - they should be chosen depending on the room's intended purpose. Class II timber (eg maple or pine) is sufficient for adult bedrooms. A greater degree of hardness of wood will be useful where the floor is more exposed to scratches or dents, and so in the rooms through which a lot of people pass, where children play or stay.
When choosing floor panels, we should be guided by their usability and abrasiveness class. The second parameter worth paying attention to is the panel abrasion class.
Wooden floors are famous for their longevity, but also vulnerable to atmospheric factors. The traditional wooden parquet can easily survive for several dozen years, but due to the natural process of graying, warping of wood and the formation of cracks, it requires regular maintenance, and sometimes also scraping. They are carried out depending on the degree of parquet wear - once every five, but sometimes even twenty or thirty years. More resistant to damage and less demanding in terms of maintenance is the so-called new generation parquet (otherwise referred to as wood panels or finish parquet). Its maintenance does not require so much work, it can also be scraped, but usually less often than the classic parquet - manufacturers determine how many times you can do the scraping. The easiest to clean and the most comfortable to maintain are floor panels. However, in the event of their destruction, we must take into account the need to completely replace the floor. In this respect wooden floors have a decisive advantage, which can be easily renovated both at individual points and on their entire surface.
If you want to avoid cold tiles in the bathroom or kitchen arrangement, you can choose to use parquet from moisture-resistant wood, waterproof panels or a wooden floor with cork. This is a good solution for small apartments where you want to get a consistent interior design and, for example, put the same floor throughout the living room with a kitchenette. In addition, wooden floors and panels are warmer than the traditionally used terracotta, so even walking barefoot, we are not cold. We obtain a waterproof floor by using one of the non-reacting wood species. These include mainly exotic woods. Oak wood can be recommended from domestic products, although unlike wc: merbau, teak, sapella and sage, it requires systematic preservation and impregnation. Similarly, a cork floor to become waterproof must be impregnated. If we care about its appearance more than using natural wood, let's decide on water-resistant waterproof floor panels. This solution will also free us from troublesome maintenance.
Although wood is a flammable material and at first seems unsuitable for connection with a heating system, proper installation, adequate choice of floor type and wood type ensure safety of use and no damage. Designing a floor heating system, as well as the selection of materials and their parameters, it is best to consult a specialist. Here are some tips to keep in mind: in the case of a wooden floor, water-based floor heating (but not electric) can be used to avoid deformation of boards, we choose a wood species characterized by a low coefficient of shrinkage and swelling: oak, merbau, iroko, twisted bamboo it is better to choose multilayer boards with chamfered edges than those made of solid wood do not forget about the appropriate assembly: the floor underlay should be adequately warmed, also divide the floor heating surface into sectors, apply the right dilatation profile and stick the floor to the underlay with an adhesive containing few solvents
Installation of hardwood flooring requires an investment of money and effort for the removal and displacement of furniture in the corresponding rooms. Hardwood flooring is the most durable and can last up to 100 years, with wooden floors and panels being naturally warmer than conventional ceramic footing. To increase the longevity of the hardwood flooring, one must choose wood grades of different hardness - class II timber (such as maple or pine) is sufficient for the majority of adult bedrooms. For rooms which experience a lot of foot traffic, a higher degree of hardness is recommended in order to minimize possible scratches or dents. In regards to the question of maintenance, traditional wooden parquet has to be scraped every five, twenty or even thirty years depending on the degree of floor wear. On the contrary, the new generation parquet and wooden panels do not necessarily require scraping, indeed a less frequent process. While floor panels may provide a more straightforward cleaning and maintaining process, in the event of their destruction a complete replacement of the floor must be considered. Unlike floor panels, hardwood floors can be readily renovated at localized points or the entire surface. For bathrooms and kitchens there is the option of using moisture-resistant hardwood from oak or even exotic woods, as well as cork. For those who prefer an even more waterproof solution, residential waterproof floor panels are avalid alternative. Hardwood laminate is an excellent option for those looking for an affordable and low-maintenance flooring solution. Moreover, hardwood laminate can be used to match the look of solid hardwood, making it an attractive, less expensive option. However, hardwood laminate, like all flooring, may require repair and refinishing in time due to everyday wear and tear. Hardwood repair should be done as soon as possible in order to obtain the best results, with the help of experienced floor repair professionals. Hardwood refinishing is a simple and cost effective way of restoring the natural look of hardwood flooring, helping to restore its depth and texture. Refinishing is done by sanding the existing hardwood, preparing the surface for further refinishing and then staining, varnishing and sealing. For a successful hardwood installation at Maple Ridge, it is essential to get an experienced flooring expert who can design the floor plan, provide and install the appropriate hardwood according to the established budget and meet all requirements for an on-time and successful installation. A quality hardwood installation project, performed by experienced and specialized professionals, should cover all the components of your hardwood flooring project, and guarantee you a durable, beautiful and functional solution. After all, a good hardwood installation involves more than just laying the wood – it must be done properly to ensure the floor remains in the best condition for years to come.
